PacificSport Athlete Academy model will integrate the current British Columbia Graduation Program Curriculum with a multi-sport training and sport sciences program designed to support competitive training requirements.

The Athlete Academy program will reduce the training and educational workload placed on athletes by allowing them to obtain graduation credits for their training and competition activities.

Academy participants will be provided with educational programs and services through School District 23 (Central Okanagan) to assist them in developing timetables, course administration and catching up on homework due to training, travel and competition.

Required & Elective Courses

The majority of the BC Graduation Program Required Courses will be delivered through the participant’s school of record (School District 23).

These courses (Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science) will be delivered in the regular classroom setting with student’s peers.

The remainder of their Graduation Required and Elective Courses will be offered through a number of flexible choices. Participant’s timetables may include online courses through a number of Ministry of Education authorized delivery agencies.

Duel Credit Program – UBC Okanagan

The program focuses on the study and practice of human movement and exercise and its impact on health and physical performance. Students interested in developing their knowledge and practical skills relating to high performance sport, community health promotion, injury prevention and rehabilitation will greatly benefit from this program. Concepts include: lifestyle management, nutritional guidance, and physical activity programming.

In order to prepare student-athletes for post-secondary education, the PacificSport Athlete Academy has created the first ever Duel Credit Program between SD23 and UBC Okanagan. Provided at no-cost, this Grade 12 program provides students with high school graduation credits and at the same time, 1st year university course credits.
