Julia Wilkinson | B.A. - Communication Julia Wilkinson is a backstroke, freestyle and individual medley swimmer. She has been a member of the Canadian National Swim Team since 2006, and has represented Canada at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, finishing seventh in the 200-meter IM final. She currently holds the Canadian record in the 50-meter backstroke and is a member of four Canadian record holding relay teams. To this point in her career, Julia has won nineteen Canadian National Titles, twenty individual Big XII Championships, an NCAA title, and has medaled six times on the international stage. Julia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with minors in English and Sport Management. After graduating in May of 2010, she returned to Canada to swim at the Victoria Academy of Swimming under coach Randy Bennett. Bennett coached Wilkinson to her first ever international podium performance: a bronze medal in the 200-meter IM at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. Wilkinson also won a bronze in the 100-meter backstroke and 400-meter medley relay at the same meet. Julia currently has a blog with CBC sports and also writes for the Canadian publication SwimNews. She is an active writer and public speaker, and hopes to work in media when she retires from swimming. In the news! On April 2nd, 2012 the Canadian Olympic Committee officially introduced the 31 swimmers who will be nominated to the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team. Julia has been nominated in the following events: 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay and 200m individual medley - read more about it here. |

Susan Boegman | B.Sc - Nutrition A graduate of University of Alberta (B.Sc in nutrition), Susan has provided sport nutrition consulting services to various athletes and teams since 1994. Over the past 6 years Susan has been providing nutrition support to national sport organizations through Canadian Sport Centre Pacific. She is currently involved with Rowing Canada Aviron, the Victoria Academy of Swimming, the Canadian National Rugby team, Cycling Canada track athletes, and works with various diving and triathlon athletes. Her goal is to promote sport excellence through high level, leading edge nutrition interventions. Susan also spent 19 years working in the highly specialized Eating Disorders Program in Victoria BC. Susan maintains her professional knowledge through active membership in various nutrition practice groups as well as through international conferences and congresses. She has been a sessional lecturer in sport nutrition at the University of Victoria, and is a member of Dietitians of Canada and the B.C. College of Dietitians. Susan fits in her love of running around her love of her family life and her love for her work as a sport nutrition professional. |
