Alexa Loo Alexa is a member of the AthletesCAN Board of Directors. She also volunteers for the International Paralympic Committee as a seeing-eye guide. Alexa graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce and secured her Chartered Accountant designation in 1998. |
Istvan Balyi Istvan Balyi is a world-renowned coach and educator. His series on Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) and periodization has been published in Australia, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Since 1994 he has been the resident sport scientist of the National Coaching Institute of British Columbia at the University of Victoria. Istvan has worked with 16 Canadian national teams as both a high performance advisor and a planning and periodization consultant for major games. He has worked with athletics, alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, water skiing, men's soccer, men's and women's water polo, men's and women's basketball, whitewater kayak and others.
Istvan is currently an LTAD advisor for sports coach UK (National Coaching Foundation), and Sport Northern Ireland. He worked with 19 sports in the UK on LTAD, including the England Rugby Union, England Cricket Board, Lawn Tennis Association, British Canoe Union, British swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming, judo and gymnastics. He is presently developing LTAD models with 17 Canadian sports, including Canadian Sport Centre Pacific.
