NATIONAL COACHING INSTITUTE - BC |
The NCI-BC offers highly interactive, practical courses open to coaches approved by their National Sport Organization. The NCI-BC is registered with the Private Career Training Institutions Agency, which ensures post-secondary career training programs meet BC Ministry of Advanced Education standards. Currently, the NCI-BC is going through some exciting changes which will enable coaches to access outstanding education. During 2010 NCI-BC will become a department of the Canadian Sport Centre Pacific (CSC Pacific) and will be the destination of choice to educate and service world-leading coaches. The amalgamation with CSC Pacific will enable greater access to the most innovative sport performance enhancement specialists and improve accessibility to the NCI advanced coaching education diploma throughout British Columbia. The main office of the NCI-BC is located in Victoria at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence. Work is currently underway in re-designing a new diploma in NCCP Advanced Coach Education. This diploma will be based on four themes of Coaching Leadership, Coaching Effectiveness, Performance Planning and Training and Competition Readiness. Diploma coaches will work through a problem solving process that requires analysis, planning, and implementation of new skills and knowledge in day to day coaching. Each coach will build an electronic portfolio that will provide evidence of their coaching competencies.
The new NCI curriculum will require phasing out old level 4/5 tasks in a manner consistent to the development of other NCCP multi-sport modules. Delivery of Level 4 tasks will continue to be offered until December 2010 on an as needed basis with all outstanding assignments accepted until June 1, 2011. Coaches who are completing, or wish to finish their NCCP Level 4 accreditation, should contact the NCI-BC to ensure that outstanding tasks will be accepted. |
